Prior to joining PYATOK, Kai worked for six years at a design/build company in Portland, OR where he learned the craft that goes into architecture. He relocated to the Bay Area to pursue his passion for working within a larger urban context and to gain exposure to projects that have greater impact on neighborhoods.
In his capacity as an Associate, Kai has provided management and coordination support for PYATOK’s recently completed UC Santa Cruz Infill Replacement project, a highly specialized renovation requiring technical scrutiny and ongoing creative-problem solving. He has also served in various roles from design support to project management on a variety of housing projects from affordable to market-rate. Most notable is the Fruitvale Transit Village Phase IIA where Kai’s involvement began with coordinating a detailed entitlement package and has continued through design development.
Kai holds a B.Arch from the University of Oregon in Eugene. Keeping in line with his Pacific Northwest roots, Kai was recently named a finalist for the STITCH Ideas Design Competition in Portland, OR.
