Kai Yonezawa, AIA
Senior Associate (510) 465-7010 x121

As a Senior Associate at PYATOK, Kai has extensive experience with affordable family housing and associated community facilities. Kai developed a passion for the craft of architecture during his early training at a design/build company in Portland, Oregon. He relocated to the Bay Area to pursue his passion for working within a larger urban context and to gain exposure to projects that have a greater impact on neighborhoods and communities.

Kai honed his technical skills as the point person on the UC Santa Cruz Infill Apartments project, a specialized renovation requiring a high level of technical scrutiny. He has also served in various roles for projects in all phases, from early concept design guiding community workshops and entitlement design working with Design Review Boards, to detailed construction documents and bidding review.

Kai remains closely connected to his family in Oita, Japan, and spent eight months in 2019 - 2020 rebuilding the 100-year-old family house into an art gallery and guest house.
