Kai Yonezawa, AIA
Project Architect (510) 465-7010 x121
As a Project Architect at PYATOK, Kai has deep experience with affordable family housing and associated community facilities. He developed a passion for the craft that goes into architecture during his early training at a design/build company in Portland, Oregon. He relocated to the Bay Area to pursue his passion for working within a larger urban context and to gain exposure to projects that have a greater impact on neighborhoods and communities.

Kai honed his technical background as the point-person on the UC Santa Cruz Infill Apartments Renovation project, a highly specialized renovation requiring a high level of technical scrutiny. He has also served in various roles for projects from early concept design with community workshops and entitlement design phases working with Design Review Boards, to detailed construction documents and bidding review.

Kai remains closely connected to his family in Oita, Japan and spent 8 months in 2019 and 2020 rebuilding the 100-year old family house into an art gallery and guest house.
