Lane Community College, whose main campus is located just outside of Eugene, Oregon, has provided educational services from its downtown center for over 30 years. With community support of tax-exempt bonds, LCC was able to create a new student housing complex integrated with a state-of-the-art campus for its Energy Management Program and Successful Aging Institute.
PYATOK joined a team led by Robertson Sherwood Architects and SRG Partnership to develop a self-funded, six-story student housing complex to complement the downtown educational facility. The project accommodates 255 students in 75 apartments, mostly 4-bedrooms with 2-baths and kitchens. With a focus on serving international students, the compact units are designed to allow independent leasing of each bedroom. Study lounges on each floor encourage social interaction and a large multi-purpose room on the ground floor opens onto a sheltered courtyard shared by the residential and academic uses. The development also includes corner retail and is certified as LEED Gold.
